Ronaldo Hernandez-Velasquez, 27, was fatally struck by two vehicles while crossing Broadway at 40th Street during the evening hours of Nov. 17, according to the West Palm Beach Police Department.
Velasquez was first hit by an SUV heading southbound. Shortly after, he was struck again by a Toyota Camry, authorities said. He was transported to St. Mary’s Trauma Center, where he died from his injuries shortly after arriving.
The driver of the Toyota remained on the scene and cooperated with law enforcement. According to the driver, the impact from the SUV forced Velasquez into the path of the Camry. Police confirmed the Toyota driver will not face charges.
The SUV driver fled the scene and remains unidentified. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities have not yet determined who had the right of way.
