aaron pena killed in atv crash in royal palm springs

A tragic incident unfolded in Royal Palm Beach on the evening of November 18. 54-year-old Aaron Pena died in an ATV accident that took place at 50 Bobwhite Road in the Willows subdivision.

Pena was pronounced dead at the accident site, while the passenger, 32-year-old Evelyn Chavez was rushed to a local hospital. She is reportedly in stable condition.

Investigation into the single-vehicle event is ongoing, but the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office believes that alcohol and excessive speed were involved.

Off-road signs warn against unauthorized vehicles in the area. It has also been revealed that Pena and Chavez were not wearing safety gear while on the ATV.

Christine Abruscato lives in the area and says the location often attracts people looking to kick their land vehicle or marine transport vessel into high gear.

“You hear them racing here all the time. ATVs, Go-Karts, and jet skis are in the water all the time,” she said. “You always hear them going faster than they should be.” VIA WPTV.com.

It’s unclear if Pena and Chavez had an ultimate destination in mind that night. The scene of the accident is not far from Commons Park.
